Gamache Construction FAQs: estimates, permits, warranty and service area
Hiring a contractor goes easier when you understand the scope, the cost and who will be in your house before you sign anything. These are the questions homeowners in MetroWest and Worcester County ask us most, each answered in the first sentence.
Do you charge for an estimate?
No, there is no charge. We visit the house, talk through the project with you and then send a written estimate at no cost and with no obligation.
What does a Gamache Construction estimate include?
A written estimate lists the scope of work, the options we discussed and the pricing for each. Homeowners in our reviews call it a clear estimate, and you have it in hand before anything is scheduled.
Can you give me a price over the phone?
No. Remodeling prices depend on the house itself, so we need to see the space first. Structural changes, the plumbing and electrical scope, and the finishes you pick all move the number, and we cannot judge those without a visit.
Do you offer financing?
Yes, financing is available for larger projects such as additions and whole-home renovations. The financing page explains how it fits with the estimate.
Permits, planning and how a project runs
Who pulls the building permit?
We do. Gamache Construction files the permit with your town’s building department and schedules the inspections the work requires, so you do not have to deal with the town yourself.
Who will be working in my house?
Our own crews, run by owner Chris Gamache. Chris runs three construction crews and brings in plumbing, electrical and tile trades when a job calls for them, and he coordinates those trades as part of the project.
How do I reach someone during the project?
Call or email the Northborough office, which is open Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Customers often name Chris in their reviews when they talk about being kept informed.
Do I need an architect or designer first?
No. Design and construction are handled under one roof: our in-house architect plans your project and draws it up when the work calls for plans. If you already have plans from your own designer, we can build from those.
Can we stay in the house while you work?
That depends on the scope and which rooms are affected. We go over it during the estimate visit so you can plan around the work before it is scheduled.
How soon can a project start?
Start dates depend on the size of the job and our schedule when you reach out. We set the timing with you once you have the written estimate and decide to go ahead.
Warranty, licensing and insurance
How long is the Gamache Construction warranty?
A labor warranty. The products we install also carry their manufacturers’ own warranties, which apply separately.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Gamache Construction is licensed in Massachusetts and carries insurance.
Which materials and suppliers do you use?
Brands and suppliers we work with include Pella, Haas Door, Therma-Tru Doors, Lansing Building Products, Koopman Lumber, Floor and Decor and Spotlight Design Center.
Insurance on structural repairs
Will you work with my insurance adjuster on a structural repair?
Yes. When a garage, porch or other part of the house needs structural repair after damage, we provide a detailed estimate and photos and coordinate with your insurance adjuster.
What kinds of structural repairs do you take on?
Repairs such as a garage corner hit by a car or a porch that needs rebuilding. One reviewer, Steve M., wrote that after his garage repair “They even painted the whole side of the garage to ensure continuity.”
What about storm damage to my roof?
Roof damage, including storm damage, goes to our roofing division, Roofing by Gamache.

No. We add on to and renovate existing homes and do not take on new home construction.

Do you take small jobs?
Yes. Our work ranges from a single bathroom to a full addition.
Roofing hand-off and light commercial work
Who handles roofing and siding?
Roofing by Gamache, our roofing division. It has its own site, and Gamache Construction stays focused on additions, remodeling, decks, and windows and doors.
What if my project needs both remodeling and a new roof?
Each part goes to the team that does it. Gamache Construction handles the addition or remodel, and Roofing by Gamache handles the roofing or siding.
Do you take on commercial projects?
Yes, light commercial work such as office renovations and small retail spaces. Most of our work is residential.
