“Installed very well”
Gamache did an excellent job on some flooring and painting for us! We had some flooring in our basement removed and replaced because the old flooring had developed gaps. The new flooring is great quality, and installed very well. They also painted the walls for us. Our fiberglass front door surface was in bad shape from years of direct sun and a lack of maintenance. They did an amazing job of restoring the finish and painting it for us. It looks beautiful now!
Small jobs get the same care
Not every project is an addition. Janice hired us for basement flooring, wall painting and a front door refinish, and her review is about how well the work was done. Across our remodeling reviews, careful workmanship is the thing customers mention most.
What should you check before remodeling in Lancaster?
Check your water, your sewer and the age of the house. Lancaster was incorporated in 1653, which makes it the oldest town in Worcester County, and Harvard, Bolton, Leominster, Clinton, Berlin and Sterling were all carved from its original land. Today it is a 28-square-mile town of 8,441 people (2020 census) where utilities vary a lot from street to street. (Source: Wikipedia.)
| Local fact | Why it matters for your project |
|---|---|
| Town water comes from several town wells, but most properties on or north of Lunenburg Road are on private wells. | A new bathroom or kitchen on a private well means looking at the well and pump as part of the plumbing scope. |
| Town sewer reaches only some streets, mostly those closest to Clinton, including Main Street to Route 117. | Off the sewer lines, homes rely on septic, and adding a bedroom brings in Board of Health review under Title 5. |
| Some houses date back centuries, others are recent. | Older homes can need framing, wiring or insulation work once walls are open, so we price those possibilities up front. |
| Town offices are in the Prescott Building, 701 Main Street. | We file the building permit with the town and handle the inspections. |

Is my Lancaster house on town water or a private well?
It depends on the street. Most of town is served by town wells, while most properties on or north of Lunenburg Road have private wells. We confirm it at the first visit because it affects any plumbing work.
Can I add a bedroom if I am on septic?
Yes, if the Board of Health confirms the system is sized for it under Title 5, and some systems need an upgrade first. We raise it before design starts.
Where do I get a building permit in Lancaster?
From the town’s building department; town offices are in the Prescott Building at 701 Main Street. We file the permit and handle the inspections for you.
Do you take on smaller jobs like flooring or door refinishing?
Yes. Along with remodels and additions, we do flooring, painting and repair work, and each job still gets a written estimate.
Can you help with an insurance claim for structural damage?
Yes. We help homeowners with the insurance side of structural repairs and then do the repair work.
